Preparing for your new best friend

Bringing a new puppy home is an exciting time but at times you need a break!  Whether it's when the doorbell rings, an important phone call, eating dinner or just because they are being a bit mental then a puppy pen or a puppy crate is a must in our eyes.

Grab yourself 5 minutes of peace and quiet.

Lick mats with chicken paste or peanut butter (puppy friendly) gave us some down time, not only did they wear them out for a bit but also they were learning as they went.

Our unique insights: This really worked for us!

What makes our advice stand out? It's all based on real-world testing with our two 17-week-old labradoodle puppies, Rhubarb and Custard. We've navigated everything from puppy training to finding the best pet-friendly accommodations. This travel bag was a game changer for the first 10 weeks that we had them and only now at 18 weeks are they getting a little too big for them (Our puppies are 4kgs at 18 weeks).  Keeping them safe while we travelled, having their toys and a chew ring in each one, we started off with them together but soon moved them to their own.  They can see each other through the mesh so are quite happy in their own space.

We are looking at options for now they are getting bigger but would really recommend these travel cases.

Keep them busy in the heat!

We learnt to keep them busy and use toys that kept them entertained, you can buy toys but also keep costs down by making them!  When our puppies were 12 weeks old, it hit 31 degrees in the UK which is super hot with no air conditioning.  We kept them cool with these ice lollies but also we added peanut butter to water and made ice cubes very cheaply and they worked a treat in the heat keeping our puppies cool.

Active toys!

These Starmark Bento Balls come in different sizes and really keeps our puppies busy.  I have bought a pack of new inserts already but I do limit the time they have them to ensure they do not over eat.  We got the medium and they seem fine with them.
